The European manufacturer of modern armament equipment and armaments supplier for NATO, once again relied on SECO/WARWICK and its technologies. This time, the partner purchased a Vector vacuum furnace with gas cooling and a molybdenum heating chamber.
The ordered solution is a non-standard vacuum furnace, which was designed to meet the customer’s precisely specified requirements for ammunition elements’ effective heat treatment. The single-chamber vacuum furnace uses gas cooling. This is the eighth SECO/WARWICK vacuum furnace which will go to this important North Atlantic Treaty arms supplier.
“The Vector furnace is a compact solution with a heating chamber (300 x 300 x 400 mm). Combined with 1.5 bar gas cooling and the possibility of working with hydrogen, it fully meets the Partner’s requirements for sintering ammunition cores. The arms industry has been recording a large number of orders for several years and is struggling with challenges related to their timely implementation, hence the increased interest in vacuum furnaces, which significantly improve production capabilities. Projectile cores sintering requires high temperature, as much as 1600oC and operation in a full hydrogen atmosphere. The new solution will allow the Partner to solve the problem of the bottleneck which arose at this stage of projectile production” – says Maciej Korecki, Vice President of the Vacuum Segment, SECO/WARWICK Group.
The furnace design, although not standard, has already been tested in production conditions.
The solution has a compact chamber with molybdenum-ceramic insulation, which allows for high purity and low heat losses. The furnace allows for operation with hydrogen at high temperatures. It is equipped with a safety burner enabling hydrogen safe combustion after the process, and an efficient and ergonomic pumping system. The cooling system based on an internal gas blower ensures optimal cooling conditions and significantly shortens cooling after sintering.
SECO/WARWICK for the defense sector
Partner is a European manufacturer of products in the defense industry with 100 years of production experience. The solutions it produces are often used in real combat conditions. They are required to be absolutely reliable, precise, high quality and highly resistant to negative external conditions. The fulfillment of these expectations will be ensured by Vector – a vacuum furnace which has consistently remained the sales leader in the SECO/WARWICK portfolio. Recently, SECO/WARWICK has supplied VECTOR furnaces to many companies in the military industry around the world, including the USA and Brazil.
