The manufacturer of screws and fasteners has chosen SECO/WARWICK to supply a vacuum furnace with high-pressure gas quenching (HPGQ) and high vacuum HV. Compact Vector for the aviation screws’ production.
The ordered vacuum furnace Vector has a compact design, which makes it a perfect solution for manufacturing companies needing to create their own small in-house hardening plants. The heating chamber’s small size (400x400x600 mm / 16x16x24 inch) also means that it takes up little usable space, but the furnace is also large enough to enable efficient heat treatment of many elements at the same time.
The solution meets the Partner’s expectations related to the hardening of fasteners dedicated to the aviation industry. This design’s characteristic features include the ability to work on both Nitrogen and Argon, a round heating chamber with a very good temperature uniformity of +/-5oC, and convection heating up to 850°C – a system improving the heat transfer efficiency during heating at lower temperatures.

This is a special order, because Partner, although it has a vacuum furnace from another supplier, chose a solution from the SECO/WARWICK brand. Vector solves challenges related to the heat treatment of components dedicated to the aviation industry. They must meet a number of standards, the fulfillment of which is guaranteed by the SECO/WARWICK furnace. Material heating processes require cleanliness (which is why an additional Argon – partial pressure system was used) and a high heating temperature of 1200oC.
“The Client required very short cooling times, which are possible with the use of a 15 bar abs gas blower. Our advantage is that it is a proven solution (our standard but adapted to the Partner’s specific requirements). Vector offers wide personalization possibilities, which significantly reduces project costs and ensures faster implementation time,” – commented M. Korecki.
