The Chinese company of the SECO/WARWICK Group is implementing a project for one of the leaders in the aviation market.
It will be a two-chamber vacuum melting and casting furnace with vertical loading designed to produce high-quality equiax castings. This is the sixth order from this customer.
An atypical vacuum melting and casting furnace
The furnace is equipped with additional functions including crucible translational motion and mold heater. The task of the 150kW heater is to heat the mold in the furnace before pouring. The melting power is 150kW.
The vacuum melting and casting furnace with a 25 kg load capacity will have a valve separating the melting chamber from the mold chamber and a gate separating the vertical loader from the melting chamber. This configuration allows the system to carry on processes one after the another without having to aerate the melting chamber. The furnace will be able to use both the multiple-use crucible and one-shot liners.
“Our Asian branch is developing very dynamically. We have a production facility in China that allows faster delivery of equipment to our partners in the region. We are also able to significantly reduce the production costs and become a competitive supplier” – says Sławomir Woźniak, CEO of SECO/WARWICK Group.
“I am glad that our partner is cooperating with us for the sixth time. This shows that for such a significant player (the aviation industry) we are the company of the first choice for metal heat treatment and vacuum metallurgy. We have built this trust with the quality of our solutions, timely deliveries, but also thanks to excellent and local after-sales service,” added Liu Yedong, Managing Director of SECO/WARWICK China.
The Perfect furnace for the aviation industry
The purchased solution is an ideal solution for the aviation industry as it helps to eliminate the problems related to the finished quality of the cast parts. It is not a standard VIM EQ furnace. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it is additionally equipped with a mold heater, thanks to which it is possible to heat the mold to the required temperature in the foundry furnace immediately before pouring. On the other hand, equipping the furnace with a crucible translational motion mechanism allows the system to achieve precise pouring into various molds from crucibles of various dimensions.
SECO/WARWICK Group’s vacuum metallurgy equipment is innovative and reliable. It is characterized by high efficiency and, thanks to process automation, repeatability. It is distinguished by modern control systems and precise loading systems. In these metallurgical furnaces, titanium and its alloys, tantalum, tungsten, niobium, zirconium, silicon, nickel, and cobalt alloys can be processed.
In recent years, companies belonging to the SECO/WARWICK Group have provided dozens of vacuum metallurgy solutions for partners around the world, including North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
The Asian market is responsible for almost 30% of SECO/WARWICK Group’s annual sales and almost half is generated by the aviation industry. These are not only customers from China, but also from South Korea and Japan. The Japanese market, commonly associated with precision, high quality, and reliability, has very high expectations of its partners and suppliers. Orders from Asia include the full range of vacuum metallurgy furnaces including PAM, EB, VIM and VAR.
